The texture of this emulsion is not as watery as I expected an emulsion to be. I think that it is quite thick and does not absorb easily. Emulsions are usually recommended for people with combination to oily skin, but I find that the Kose Sekkisei emulsion is quite oily upon application and my face will remain oily and a bit sticky for a few minutes before it starts to absorb. I will not recommend this Sekkisei emulsion for people with oily skin as the stickiness and oiliness might feel uncomfortable.
When it does absorb after a while, it does hydrate well. But I would advise against using too much as some people have complained of black/whiteheads, so I usually use lesser than a full pump.
I do not like this emulsion too much as I prefer my moisturisers to absorb quickly. Usually I apply serums before my moisturiser and if the moisturiser does not absorb well, it would make me feel like there is a layer of oil on my face, which I dislike. Also, if I use this emulsion after using a sheet mask, the mask essence plus the emulsion on my skin makes it feel very thick and sticky.
All in all, I think there are better moisturisers out there. There is little whitening benefits from the emsulsion as well, I think the Sekkisei Lotion is a better product to purchase.

I think I have a similar dislike to serums or creams that do not absorb instantly. Have been thinking of trying Kose Sekkisei but after what you have mention kinda puts me off totally. I have combination oily skin too. I've used SKII before their White Source is good. It doesn't leave the sticky uncomfortable feel or shine. Have you tried SKII?
ReplyDeleteHi, I have only tried the Sk-II Facial Treatment Essence and I think it's quite good. I think the Kose Sekkisei Lotion is the only thing worth purchasing in that line of products. You can give that one a try! =)
ReplyDeletei find your blog useful. i have good complexion but my skin is dehydrated (many people have commented).
ReplyDeletewhat advice would you give.
Hi, add more hydrating items into your skincare routine. if your skin is dehydrated (and not dry skin - difference being dehydrated skin lacks water, dry skin lacks oil), you can try hydrating masks, i like the neutrogena one, and daily care like clinique's moisture surge/laneige water sleeping pack or hada labo hydrating lotion - products with hyaluronic acid/sodium hyaluronate are good too.
ReplyDeletehope this helps!
I also have this emulsion and what I do is, I use it about once a week after cleansing and using the Sekkisei lotion. I massage it into my skin a bit and then put on a Kosé Clear Turn Whitening Sheet Mask (from the box dispenser) on top. After about 15 minutes, I take it off and apply Kosé Hyalocharge White moisturizer, go to bed and wake up with really bright skin.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't do it more often, though, as I don't want to overfeed my skin.
It seems like you are using this emulsion as a booster for your mask. It is quite a rich product so once a week is enough =)
ReplyDeleteI don't usually use moisturizers before putting on a mask as I think mask essence have smaller molecules than moisturizers so I prefer letting my skin soak in the mask essence then seal it all in with the moisturizer. But it is an interesting way to use this product. I will try it someday too!
Wondering how much this is in SG? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi, im a big fans of kose, and initially when i was applying this emulsion (im of oily skin), i find it leaving a sticky and oily surface after applying. but i found the trick, you must apply this emulsion with a cotton pad. I came across their brochure and i saw them highlighting the use of cotton pad on this. im not sure, but with cotton pad, this emulsion turn out to be very absorb-able. My skincare routine (clearlotion, lotion, emulsion, sunblock) took me less than 5 minutes now! =) Hope it helps!
